Runnymede Arts Enrichment Program
Two of our long-standing artists, Joan Ness and Annette Gaffney, spent the better part of a week doing “art from the heart” instruction for all kindergarten classes at Runnymede Public School. These 4 and 5-year old children are still at a stage where they are not afraid to make mistakes, and as a result, there were a lot of bold, colourful canvases!
The Runnymede Arts Enrichment program is facilitated by parents to foster early immersion in the arts - indeed, there are more murals and communal art on the walls of this school than we have ever seen. As community artists, the West Toronto Artists are honoured to have these kinds of special opportunities to work with local children and youth in helping to foster their creativity. A special thanks to the parents and staff at Runnymede Public School and of course, to the children for welcoming and inspiring us in return.
